International Children’s Book Day

April 2, 2014

Today is International Children’s Book Day, a time to celebrate great works created for the young and young at heart. April 2nd was chosen to mark this day for young book lovers as it’s the same date as Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, one of the founding fathers of fairy tales.

Great books lend themselves very well to film and have given Hollywood some of their most beloved characters, such as The Little Mermaid, Willy Wonka, Dorothy Gale and The Grinch. We put together a collection of Movies Based on Children’s Books to showcase some of the movies that take their stories and characters from children’s literature.

With the help of Common Sense Media Ratings, we have put together a guide to find the perfect movie from this collection to watch with your kids.
