Laughs for Dad

June 17, 2014

For Father’s Day this past weekend we put together a collection called Laughs for Dad, featuring an array of comedies for the discerning Dad. Today we look at three movies from the collection that are worth adding to your movie library, all on sale through the end of the week!

The Campaign

Will Ferrell plays a congressman vying to keep his seat amidst a sex scandal and upcoming election. Zach Galifianakis is his naïve opponent, running with the help of his slick campaign manager, Dylan McDermott. Be prepared for some over-the-top crude humor that really pays off. A sex tape is involved and a baby gets punched in the face, but as a political satire it works and the cast is hilariously en pointe.

We’re the Millers

Jason Sudeikis is a small-time pot dealer with big problems. When he is forced to smuggle drugs across the border, he pays his neighbors—a stripper (Jennifer Aniston), a petty thief (Emma Roberts) and a wannabe customer (Will Poulter)—to pose as his family on vacation. Things, of course, do not run smoothly and soon the “Millers” are caught between a drug cartel and the DEA. Do not be deterred by the 47% Critic’s Score, audiences give this film a 72% approval rating—you’ll have to watch it to decide for yourself.

Best in Show

Five eccentric sets of dog owners converge on the Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show in this improvisational mockumentary. In classic Christopher Guest form this film is packed with the usual suspects of top-notch comedians. The Store download is also bursting with special features, including over a dozen deleted scenes.
