Kaleidescape Adds 4K Ultra HD Experience to Premiere Systems
Solution Delivers Industry-Leading Strato User Interface and Hundreds of True 4K Movies,
While Retaining Access to All Movies on the Premiere System
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – September 6, 2017 — Kaleidescape, Inc., the leading manufacturer of home-theater movie players and servers, today announced the availability of Kaleidescape Co-Star, a combination of hardware and software that unlocks 4K for Kaleidescape Premiere owners. With Co-Star, a customer can pair a Strato 4K movie player with any M-Class movie player and enjoy hundreds of great movies in 4K Ultra HD and 4K HDR from the Kaleidescape Movie Store. Co-Star and Strato provide a noticeably smoother and richer 4K user interface experience, while providing seamless access to all the DVD and Blu-ray titles on the Premiere system.
“The Kaleidescape brand is synonymous with the most refined home cinema experience,” said Cheena Srinivasan, Kaleidescape founder and CEO. “Our flagship product, the Strato Movie Player, delivers a pristine user experience. Our online movie store provides Internet delivery of the finest Hollywood movies with impeccable audio and video quality. Combining these advantages with the large movie collections our customers have built on their Premiere systems provides the best of both worlds.”
Co-Star comprises a dedicated HDMI switch that connects the M-Class player and the Strato player to a TV or projector, and two new kOS releases – kOS 8 for the Premiere system and kOS 10 for the Strato system. The Strato user interface presents a unified view of all the movies on both systems, and automatically invokes playback by the appropriate movie player.
“Kaleidescape is an admirable brand, in part because the company has always strived to provide an upgrade path to its customers to use new audio and video formats, like Dolby Atmos and 4K HDR,” said Dave Raines, Osbee Industries’ president, a longstanding Kaleidescape dealer in New York. “This integrated solution makes good business sense, but more importantly will make our elite and loyal customer base who have disc-based Kaleidescape systems very happy. Many of our clients are looking for the best picture and audio quality. Streaming simply won’t cut it for our discerning clients. Kaleidescape has always been the gold standard for the best image and audio quality.”
“When we set out to build our home theater, we knew we wanted Kaleidescape for the best picture, sound, and automation control,” said Chris Hanline, a Kaleidescape customer in Minnesota. “And we’ve been wanting to upgrade to Strato for its superior user interface and the 4K content to go with our 4K projector, while seamlessly accessing our existing Blu-ray and HD movies. We’re excited to be using the Co-Star solution because there is no better way to watch all our movies at home than on our Kaleidescape system.”
Kaleidescape Co-Star is shipping now. In the United States and Canada, the Co-Star MSRP is $495.
