Marine Download FAQ

 

  1. When can I purchase content for download from the Marine Store?

Select titles may be downloaded directly to your yacht, depending on the location of the yacht and applicable licensing rights.

 

  1. How do I know which titles can be purchased for download?

On the Marine Web Store, you can apply a filter to show titles currently available for direct download.  

 

  1. How do I purchase a movie that is not available for direct download?

Movies that are not available for download must be ordered and shipped by delivery disk using the “Add to order” button.

 

  1. When I purchase a title to download, does it start downloading immediately?

Yes, titles purchased for download are queued for download and immediately begin downloading.

 

  1. Can content be ordered in advance so that when I get to a permitted region they start to download?

No, titles are available to order for direct download only when the yacht is in a permitted region, according to specific licensing rights for such title. Content not currently available for direct download can always be ordered to be loaded on a disk drive to be shipped to the location at which the yacht will be docking. 

 

  1. I downloaded content when I was in the permitted region, will it play on my system if I am not in the permitted region?

Yes, once content has been downloaded to the server, it is playable anywhere that the yacht is located. 

 

  1. How long will a typical 4K title take to download on a Starlink connection?

For a typical Starlink speed of 200 Mbps, a movie download will take about an hour.  

 

  1. Are rentals available for download?

No, rentals are not available in the marine store.

 

  1. Do I need to change anything in my system to allow for downloading content?

No, if your system is registered for the marine service and marine store, there is nothing that needs to be changed on the hardware to enable download. 

 

  1. Do I need a different marine license to allow downloads?

No, if your system is set up for marine service in the marine store, your system does not need any additional licensing. 

 

  1. What happens if a download fails during the process, can it be retried?

If a download fails, you will be able to retry the download.
