Moving Terra Disk Set to Terra Prime Upgrade
If you have purchased a Terra Prime Upgrade to replace an existing Terra Movie Server in your system and would like to use the existing disk set in the new server, you must:
- Upgrade the existing system to kOS 10.16.0 or later. If this is not possible due to a missing or failed Terra Movie server chassis, follow the “No Source Chassis Available” instructions at the bottom of this document.
- Determine which configuration matches your system and follow the appropriate instructions below.
IMPORTANT: You must use the power adapter included with the Terra Prime chassis.
Single Server System
If your source Terra Movie Server is the only server in your system:
- Deactivate the Terra Movie Server:
- Navigate to the Settings > General browser interface page for the Terra Movie Server (http://my-kaleidescape.local/settings_general).
- Click the “Deactivate System” button.
- Remove power from the Terra Movie Server.
- Wait at least 15 seconds to allow the disks to stop spinning.
- Remove the disks and set them aside.
- Replace the Terra Movie Server chassis with the Terra Prime Movie Server chassis.
- Put the disks from the source Terra Movie Sever into the destination Terra Prime Movie Server.
- Apply power via the power adapter provided with the Terra Prime Movie Server and wait for the server to fully boot.
- Activate the Terra Prime Movie Server:
- Navigate to the Settings > General browser interface page for the server (http://my-kaleidescape.local/settings_general).
- Click the “Activate” button and enter the same e-mail address for activation that was used for the Terra Movie Server.
- Follow instructions in the e-mail received to complete the activation.
- When completing the activation form, choose the Do not restore movies option.
- Group the desired players with the Terra Prime Movie Server:
- Navigate to the Settings > Components browser interface page for the server (http://my-kaleidescape.local/components).
- Click the “Add Component” button and choose all desired players from the list presented.
- Content stored on the migrated disk set will be initially unauthorized (dimmed in the onscreen display). It can take up to two hours to authorize after migrating the disk set to the Terra Prime server.
- Carefully box up the old Terra Movie Server chassis and return it to Kaleidescape using the supplied UPS mailing label.
Multi-Server System
If your source Terra Movie Server is part of a system with another Encore Terra Movie Servers or a Strato or Alto players with storage:
- Navigate to the Settings > Components browser interface page for the system (http://my-kaleidescape.local/components).
- Note the IP address of the source Terra Movie Server that you want to replace, as well as the IP address of another server.
- Click the “Remove from system” button for the source Terra Movie Server you want to replace.
- When the Remove Server dialog box is displayed, choose Remove Only as there is no need to restore your content.
- Remove power from the source Terra Movie Server.
- Wait at least 15 seconds to allow the disks to stop spinning.
- Remove the disks and set them aside.
- Replace the source Terra Movie Server chassis with the destination Terra Prime Movie Server chassis.
- Put the disks from the source Terra Movie Sever into the destination Terra Prime Movie Server.
- Apply power via the power adapter provided with the Terra Prime Movie Server and wait for the server to fully boot.
- Add the Terra Prime Movie Server to the existing system:
- Navigate to the Settings > Components browser interface page for the existing system using the IP address of the other server that was gathered above.
- Click the “Add Component” button and choose the Terra Prime Movie Server.
- Content stored on the migrated disk set will be initially unauthorized (dimmed in the onscreen display). It can take up to two hours to authorize after migrating the disk set to the Terra Prime server.
- Carefully box up the old Terra Movie Server chassis and return it to Kaleidescape using the supplied UPS mailing label.
No Source Chassis Available
If the source Terra Movie Server chassis is not available:
- Put the disks in the destination Terra Prime Movie Server chassis.
- Connect the server to a DHCP enabled network, ensuring the component will have access to the Internet.
- Apply power via the power adapter provided with the Terra Prime Movie Server and wait for the server to fully boot.
- Wait at least 5 minutes to allow the server to update the disk set for the new chassis. The server may reboot once during this process.
- Single server system:
- Proceed with system activation.
- When completing the activation form, choose the Do not restore movies option.
- Multi-server system (Terra Movie Servers, Strato with storage, or Alto players with storage):
- Navigate to the Settings > Components browser interface page for the existing system.
- Click the “Add Component” button and choose the Terra Prime Movie Server.
