How can we help you?

What happens if I import or catalog a disc without an active Internet connection?

You can import a Blu-ray disc, DVD or CD, or catalog a Blu-ray disc or DVD without an Internet connection, however, newly released movies and albums may not be recognized depending on the time of the last connection to the Internet.
If the movie or album was released after the last connection to the Internet, it will not be recognized because the system will not have a recent enough Movie Guide or Music Guide update.

If the movie or album was released before the last connection to the Internet, it will likely be recognized because the system will have a more recent Movie Guide and Music Guide update. However, cover art will not be downloaded until the connection to the Internet is restored.

For movies and albums that are not recognized, you can provide a UPC/EAN to the system, but this UPC/EAN will not be processed to Kaleidescape services until the Internet connection is restored. To manually enter information or cover art for unrecognized, or partially recognized movies and albums, follow instructions in the article, “What if the Movie Guide or Music Guide does not have information on a disc?“

Once the Internet connection is restored, the Kaleidescape System will automatically download the latest Movie Guide and Music Guide updates, and automatically download any missing cover art. Depending on the amount of time the system was disconnected from the Internet and the speed of the current Internet connection, this process may take many hours or longer to complete.
