Our User Interface defines the Kaleidescape Experience. Seamless, intuitive, elegant, exciting - the UI walks a tightrope between simplicity of use and a deep feature set, integrated with residential control systems and devices. We're moving our award-winning UI to the next level as we tackle multiple media types and sources, ever larger libraries of titles, constantly enhanced features, bleeding-edge technology innovations, ground-breaking device controls, and increasing user sophistication.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is your chance to provide senior leadership to a growing team of engineers responsible for how users interface with our product – system-based UI, web-based UI and Control Systems interfaces and devices. This is an incredible opportunity to influence the direction and decisions that most directly affect customer experiences with the coolest system out there. Your ideas, innovation and creativity will shape the way our customers embrace their whole-home entertainment experience, while your technical and business expertise and leadership will grow and guide a team of talented professionals in the design and implementation of new features and enhancements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A key role in the senior engineering management of our company
- Active participation in product planning
- Support to continue growing and developing Kaleidescape's UI talent
- The appropriate tools and budget to achieve today’s demands and tomorrow's vision
SKILLS:
This role requires strong communication, management and leadership skills, business focus, and the ability to drive results in a team environment towards high performance, cost-effective products. Success requires proven technical and organizational leadership of senior engineering professionals, gained in multiple organizational settings. Your background includes:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant management experience
- Previous leadership of teams designing and developing User Interfaces
- Previous leadership of projects involving substantial customer and vendor interaction, including requirements gathering, pre- and post-sales support, and liaising with both internal and external project teams
- Theoretical and practical background with User Experience approaches and User Interface design techniques
- Energy and passion for results, with the proven project management skills to drive outcomes and integrate with overall project milestones
- Curiosity combined with practical problem solving and strong data collection and analytical skills
- Strong facilitation, liaising, and communication skills to work with all of engineering and drive consensus
- Experience with new product design
- Experience in some of the following technical areas:
- Developing "10 foot" User Interfaces
- Knowledge of A/V control system architectures
- Developing interfaces for web browsers and/or small form-factor devices
- C++, Linux, GNU toolchain
- AJAX or similar technologies
- Macromedia/Adobe Flash and/or Flex; ActionScript
- Java/J2ME programming (AWT)
- Familiarity with a wide variety of control systems and devices (Elan, Control4, Philips Pronto)
